Boys Are Dogs Review

Boys Are Dogs

Boys Are Dogs was another fun, light read. It was definitely targeted for a younger audience, but I still enjoyed it. Annabelle was a relatable narrator and her troubles brought back a lot of my own sixth grade memories. I could definitely understand what Annabelle meant about the boys! Sixth grade boys are about as far from mature as you can get. Although this plot line can be a little overdone, Margolis added her own cute twist to it. I loved how Annabelle dealt with the boys in her own unique way- by using her puppy training manual. Use a stern voice and hold eye contact? Check. Be the alpha dog? Check. Never back down? Check. Annabelle was a great narrator and I enjoyed reading the story from her point of view. I loved Pepper, her little puppy, and he definitely added a lot to the book. I have my own puppy right now and I could relate to a lot of the things she was dealing with with Pepper. All in all this was a fun book and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. I would recommend Boys Are Dogs when you are looking for a quick, light read with well meaning characters and an original plot line.
In addition to dealing with the boys, Annabelle was also always worried about what people would think of her. I felt bad for her when her best friend Rachel's older brother was so nasty to her, but I'm glad she stood up for herself. The book pretty much focused all on Annabelle and I wished there was a little more background on some of the characters, so I'm hoping to hear more about them in Girls Acting Catty. I think the cover really suited the novel and the puppy actually looked a lot like Pepper! I'm definitely planning on passing this on to a girl I know going into sixth grade. It's a perfect read for her age group and will definitely help her prepare for the boys she'll encounter(:

Sure Iron Mans on the cover, but hes not really part of the story here. Although his stamp is firmly in place in this story about hero boot camp where you either make the grade or lose your powers. Primarily run by Yellow Jacket, War Machine, The Gauntlet, Henry Gyrich and ex New Warrior Justice. The story focuses on a handful of recruits and their trials and tribulations. You get a glimpse at what a total *sshole Gyrich STILL is after all these years, how morally bankrupt Henry Pym has become, and why Gauntlet shows the new recruits so much "Tough Love". As you can probably tell i find the people who run camp more interesting than the students. And that is mostly true, some of the new heros introduced are interesting as well though. Trauma and Hard Ball in particular. The art is nice and the writing is really above par. The stories vary and since the writers aren't married to any these just introduced student/heroes you literally NEVER KNOW whats going to happen next to these poor kids. A fun ride, more than worth the price.

. . . and you won't want to land. As a pilot (SEL, gliders, hang gliders and paragliders) and a skydiver (D-454), I find this book to be absolutely delightful. Dave English has researched nearly one thousand quotations, divided them into 13 categories and brought the words to life in an exquisite hardcover book. Mama Cat's Adventures in Child Training Presents: No Whining Review

Mama Cat's Adventures in Child Training Presents: No Whining

I have twin 4 year olds who are constantly whining. This is a beautifully-written and illustrated book that teaches you get NOTHING when you whine, and you are rewarded for good behavior. I read it to my boys last night and they loved it. This morning, when one of my boys started whining, I said, "What do you get when you whine?" He replied, "Nothing... I'm sorry." A lesson also for parents to be consistent and to remain calm instead of yelling at your kids to stop (which never works). I'm already convinced that with repeated reading and consistent parenting (you can never give in) the whining will stop! Thanks for this book, and PLEASE write more!!!!

The Potty Book - For Boys Review

The Potty Book - For Boys
Average Reviews:

My son loves this book, so I can't really give it a "bad" review. He loves the illustrations (especially the one where Henry has had an accident on the floor). But I wish that it was a little more 'instructional' for him. The book never discusses some really important elements of potty training, like wiping afterwards or washing hands. The cover of the book shows Henry playing with the toilet paper roll, but never shows toilet paper inside the book and never once mentions what toilet paper is actually for. I guess this is a good book for very beginning children who just need to be introduced to the very basic elements of just sitting on the potty.

Every little boy's graduation from diapers to the potty is always a very important moment--and one to make both parents and toddlers proud! In The Potty Book, Henry needs to have his diapers changed so he can go out and play. Then mom and dad bring home a big box, and Henry is anxious to open it up and see what's inside. Is it a rocking chair? A bed for Teddy? No, it's a potty--which means that it's time for Henry to graduate from his diapers. This gentle and humorous little story is charmingly illustrated and told in verse. Little boys will enjoy looking at the pictures and having the story read to them. Meanwhile, they'll start getting the idea that it's time for them to grow up, exactly like Henry. So that at last, they'll be able to say--"I'm off the potty!"
