I found this to be an excellent book of a day by day story of what training at a guide dog school with a new guide dog is like. It is not a "Feel good, gloss over the bad" type of story, but a real life and down to earth look at the successes and hardships that one goes through when partnered with a guide dog. The book talks about Tom's difficulties coming to terms with his blindness, as well as some of the challenges that were presented to him and the other students during training at Guiding Eyes for the Blind in the late 1970s. It was a very well done book that I wish was more well known to those interested in getting a guide dog to assist with their mobility. I think anyone interested in getting a guide dog and curious about what team training is like should read this book.
