An Introduction to Foreign Exchange & Money Markets (Reuters Financial Training) Review

An Introduction to Foreign Exchange and Money Markets (Reuters Financial Training)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have some experience of foreign exchange trading, this book is not for yourself. You would learn everything written here within the first six weeks of your job as a foreign exchange trader.
However, this book is great for the REAL beginners who want to learn about foreign exchange from the very beginning and for trainers or teachers who teach those who has little knowledge the foreign exchange. This book starts from explaining what bids and asks are and explains so far up to the mechanics of foreign exchange derivatives. The most remarkable feature of this book is illustrations of deal components and market segments showing how each deal components and markets are related to each other. Detail explanation on different market conventions applied to different currencies is also useful. Short questions at end of chapters are good to review what you should take away from the chapters.

This book is very informative, and a must have if you want to work with your dog without paying a professional trainer. The picture illustrations are a perfect compliment to the written instructions. I especially liked the detail given about other obedience issues such as dog language and how aggression begins between dogs. This book is a permanent addition to our living room reading material!

Successful Jumping: Training Your Horse with Gridwork Review

Successful Jumping: Training Your Horse with Gridwork
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am new to jumping horses, but a very experienced rider. My trainer introduced me to and loaned me her copy. I found it to be very helpful in teaching me excellent techniques to train the green horse (my interest is in field hunters and polo horses) and also to make me a better, more confident jumper. However, this is a reference work, even though small, and I need to return my trainer's copy to her. That I want to go purchase the book after I have read it tells you all you might need to know. Perhaps an experienced hunter/jumper might not need this book, but for the novice, I think it is excellent.

One of the most effective ways of developing a horse's natural aptitude for jumping is through using gridwork, a logical system of training that increases the horse's confidence, encourages the development of good musculature, and improves the horse's accuracy, agility, and technique. This book demystifies the method and explains in a way that will enable anyone to develop a safe and effective training program. There is practical instruction and advice on preparatory work, choosing equipment, building fences, calculating distances, and developing gridwork exercises; there is also an invaluable trouble-shooting chapter, which aims to identify the causes of any problems and suggests remedies.

Spirituality of Adult Education and Training (The Professional Practices in Adult Education and Human Resource Development Series) Review

Spirituality of Adult Education and Training (The Professional Practices in Adult Education and Human Resource Development Series)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Leona English is the leading academic researcher in the professional practice of applying spirituality to adult education, training, and human resource development. Her co-authors, Tara Fenwick and Jim Parsons, contribute to this seminal professional work that provides "how-to's" for facilitating the experience of spirituality in education and at work.
In one section of the book, they cite sound research that identifies nine numinous dimensions in life that are indicative of operationalized spirituality. For example, three of the nine dimensions that suggest lived spirituality are when an individual is aware of a "transcendent dimension, ... some higher power," when an individual is aware of or is seeking "meaning and purpose in life," and when an individual is aware of or is seeking his or her "mission in life" and feels responsible to fulfill that mission. It is my opinion that these three dimensions are fundamental hallmarks of the journey and experience of spirituality. Human beings are by nature spiritual beings. English, Fenwick, and Parsons present spirituality in a manner with which most self-aware humans can identify. The authors have demonstrated that dialogue about spirituality can be appropriate and is likely as necessary as any other subject that arises in education or in the workplace.
Caution should be exercised by those individuals whose conceptualization of spirituality tends to be narrow and rigid. Individuals who tend to judge themselves, others, and the world according to a limited philosophy of the human experience may not be ready for the reality of spirituality presented in this work.

This book acknowledges that spirituality is an integral part of adult learning and development.Building on the history of adult education and training, which is laced with spiritual themes and motivations, the authors suggest that the profession needs to recover some of its early concerns for holistic, spiritually informed, and socially responsible practice. Adult educators and trainers need this text which addresses all facets of spirituality and assists them in making pedagogical choices. The authors challenge readers to examine their own spirituality before and while they are nurturing the spirituality of learners. Here educators and trainers can explore new ways to make sense of their own spiritual lives and those of their students.

This is the book that the author, former commandant of the Swedish Calvary School said he could not have written as a young man, but only after over sixty years of training horses and riders. It sets down in a wonderfully ordered fashion the Baron's training principles, based on a lifetime of observation, research, and experience. He covers the philosophy of training, biomechanics, what he calls the language of touch, the rider's technique and the link system. And there is full treatment of the movements, described as Purpose and Effect, with the wonderful addition of clear It's Gone Wrong When... and Your Can Prevent It By... headings for each movement. Frankly, these sections alone are so useful it's worth having this book always close at hand! The text is enhanced with clear drawings. For serious riders, this is onenot-to- be missed!

Est (Erhard Seminars Training : 60 Hours That Transform Your Life) Review

Est (Erhard Seminars Training : 60 Hours That Transform Your Life)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is truly the best book for anyone who is interested in what the experience of est was to, not just an Average Jane, but one with a Psychology degree. It will also greatly inform you on what the Landmark Forum is like, except that there have been some format changes since est. What makes the book so fascinating is that Adelaide Bry includes all of her doubts and misgivings about est, Werner and the process, and takes responsibility for them and explains what she gets out of having her doubts and how they affect her life, how they hold her back.
For those of you, who are skeptical, this is the best book to read because so was she! She takes you through the training in a remarkable way that describes the experience without really giving anything away. She shares what she got and how it impacted her and then includes chapters on est in the prisons, on Werner himself and many short pieces by graduates. Her research is tremendous and you put it down having as clear an understanding of est and Landmark as there is.
As someone who has gone through the Landmark Forum and many of its succesive courses, I can say that it is quite simply one of the most extraordinary experiences you will ever have. Sure, you could say it's weird that everybody comes out so happy and that it costs too much and that you have to sit for so long in one spot. What you should know is that it challenges us in every way we know. That we can only sit still for a certain period of time. That we know everything about ourselves. That we're a good judge of character. Everything. The Landmark Forum and est before it are never about changing your views. Because change implies that your views are somehow bad and they're going to make them good. They were and are always about transformation, expanding how we view life and ourselves.
This book has assisted me in my views of est, Landmark and life and if you can find it or know someone who has it (like me for all my friends out there) you will put it down completely satisfied and probably very interested in the Landmark Forum experience!

What a TALL tale, not a shred of truth anywhere. Boot Camp,, please,, we stayed in a very comfortable Hotel with maid service. I have been here well before Cole arrived and am still here with over 1000 combat patrols under my belt, cole has taken stories from several different sources and incorporateed them as if it happened to him. To claim he knew our KIA and the circumstances surrounding their deaths is disgraceful. You were in Kirkuk!! and spent a couple of weeks ON FOB 7. You have dishonored all of us by this pack of lies.

"One moment, I was standing there with my buddies unloading a truck. The next moment, my ears picked up the distinct `pssst' sound homing in on us...."Hit the ground!" someone yelled."Right behind the first mortar was a second, then a third, then a fourth. They each slammed into the earth with an enormous impact. The ground shook. The eight-story building above us shuddered, and we all covered our heads when the windows blew out."As I lay there with glass and debris raining down on me, all I could think was, `Holy sh*t, what did I get myself into?'" President Bush is fond of saying, "When Iraq can stand up, America can stand down." A large part of "standing up" is having a well-trained police force in place to maintain peace and order. Why is it taking so long to put a solid police force together? How prepared are the Iraqis to carry out their duties? What pitfalls are Americans facing as they try to get Iraqi police up to speed? In this book Robert Cole--a retired California police officer hired by DynCorp as an international police trainer--presents a vivid account of the challenges of training the Iraqis to handle their own security. In blunt, everyday language, Cole gives the reader an unusually candid and often hair-raising glimpse into reality at the street level as he and his colleagues navigate the dangerous sectors of Baghdad, Tikrit, and Kirkuk, dodging explosions and bullets aimed at them by young, Iraqi, wannabe heroes. Cole describes situations not shown in the media that fly in the face of the party line from Washington: men in their sixties being hired as policemen, Iraqi detectives who extract information from people by ramming toothpicks under their fingernails, officers suggesting that the best way to subdue potential suspects who flee is by shooting them in the back, police hunkered down in their barracks who refuse to patrol neighborhoods for fear of violence, an enemy that easily blends into a population armed to the teeth with loaded AK-47s, and the routine frustrations of cultural and language barriers to communication. In sharp contrast to the usual bromides about staying the course, Under the Gun in Iraq paints a brutally realistic picture of the bleak, perilous road ahead. This is essential reading for all Americans seeking an honest understanding of the dire situation in Iraq.

This book was easy to read and follow, making it the perfect book to start with. I recently got my first serious hunting dog and knew NOTHING about the process of training. I was seriously thinking of professional training her but no more. The book showed my what to do, when to it, how much to do, and that the person doing should be me. Though there is a lot of information in the book, it is presented in a concise and interesting manner. If you are a dog person, you will have a hard time putting the book done once you have started.

Saint Training Review

Saint Training
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I loved this book for two reasons. The first is that it brings the late 60's and its issues to readers who weren't there. The second is that it provokes you to ask questions about how you are living your life and whether you are living up to your childhood dreams and promises that you made to yourself and to your God.
This book made me cry and laugh out-loud. As the previous reviewer wrote, it is not a quick read, but the pace makes the reader think about the moral questions being posed in the context of those times. And who wants a book to end quickly? I believe that this book will serve as great source material in a cultural context of a Catholic girl in 1967.
I am an adult and will have my 7th grade daughter read it next as it is targeted to her age group.

Classical Horsemanship for Our Time: From Basic Training to the Highest Levels of Dressage
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This book is highly recomendable to alle riders but especially dressage riders . Classical dressage described in details on "how to " and also descibing all the mistakes you or your horse can make and how to fix them. The book requires some degree of knowledge of the exercises since there is not many illustrations inside. The style of riding is that of the late Baucher , but wether or not one agree with him, this book is very useful on a practical level.
The exercises work "for real" and it is detailed enough for the rider to go out and train by it. One does not have to ride exactly this style to get the use of it.
If ever there is to come a video to attach - it would be perfect.
